Your Favorite Coffee Shop Wants You to Go Elsewhere

DC Disloyalty CardDoes your go-to coffee spot want to send you to one of its rivals? It may sound odd, but a handful of shops are actively encouraging you to go elsewhere for coffee. It’s called the DC Disloyalty program, and you can now find DC Disloyalty Cards at six participating coffee shops – Blind Dog Cafe, Chinatown Coffee Co., The Coffee Bar, La Mano, Peregrine Espresso and Filter Coffeehouse.

The program aims to build community around coffee in DC by encouraging customers to explore the city’s neighborhoods and coffee offerings. Here’s a brief description from the DC Disloyalty website at

DC’s coffee community is a friendly, thriving one; area baristas have fun serving customers and each other. A scene like this deserves not a loyalty card but a disloyalty card, which encourages people to visit different neighborhoods, try coffee from different roasters each shop presents on their menus, and meet some awesome coffee professionals. You Should Go to this Madcap Tasting on Friday

MadCap Holiday FusionThe release of Madcap’s Holiday Fusion has been a welcomed seasonal treat the past couple years. It’ll no doubt be an excellent coffee again this year, and you can taste it alongside several others during this Friday’s coffee tasting.

Tryst & the Sitar Arts Center Team up for Giving Tuesday

If you aren’t familiar (I wasn’t), Giving Tuesday is a national campaign to spark charitable giving at the start of the holiday season. Local coffee purveyor, Tryst, is participating by raising funds for the Sitar Arts Center in Adams Morgan. Today only, stop by Tryst and donate $10 to the Sitar Arts Center Giving Tuesday campaign to receive one ticket redeemable for one cup of coffee (or, if you prefer, a glass of District Common beer, wine or cocktail). Sprudge-Pop-up-MerchJust in time for Cyber Monday, Sprudge has launched its “pop-up web store” for merchandise illustrating coffee and, uh, cats.
